No surprises, and no third party.
Everything about the money is settled before you commit to anything. I would rather lose an enquiry to a number than have the question sitting under the work for six months.
What it costs and how it runs.
- Fee
- $275 per 50-minute session. The same rate whether we meet once or twice a week.
- Payment
- Private pay. I do not bill insurance or work with managed care. Payment is taken through a secure portal at the time of session.
- Frequency
- Weekly at minimum. Twice weekly where the work calls for it.
- Format
- Secure video only, on a HIPAA-compliant platform, anywhere in California.
- Cancellation
- Forty-eight hours notice. Sessions cancelled inside that window are charged in full, because the hour is held for you.
- Availability
- The practice is intentionally small. There is not always an opening, and I will tell you plainly rather than take you on badly.
It keeps the treatment between the two of us.
Insurance requires a diagnosis on your permanent record, justification of medical necessity to a reviewer, and a treatment plan written for an audience that is not you. It also caps sessions by formula rather than by what the work needs.
For most people that is an acceptable trade. For people whose professional lives make a documented psychiatric diagnosis genuinely consequential — attorneys facing bar questions, physicians facing licensure, anyone with security clearance or fiduciary duties — it is not.
Paying directly means no diagnosis is required, no record leaves this practice, and no one but us decides how long the work runs.
Can I claim it back?
Some out-of-network plans reimburse a portion. I do not provide documentation for reimbursement, so if claiming matters to you, this is probably not the right practice.
Is there a sliding scale?
No. I hold a small number of cases at a consistent fee rather than a larger number at varying ones.
How long does this take?
Open-ended. Most of the work I do runs in years rather than weeks, though you should feel something shift within a few months. If nothing has, that is worth examining rather than waiting out.
What if I am not sure it is worth it?
Then say that on the consultation call. It is a more useful conversation than most people expect.

A 15-minute call, no charge. We can cover the fee, the frequency, and whether I am the right person before anything is booked.
